Sara Manasseh
Sara Manasseh is an ethnomusicologist,
researcher and lecturer.
She has researched the
musical traditions of the Jews of Iraq, in Bombay, Israel and the UK. Her
doctoral dissertation (Goldsmiths, London) focused on Iraqi Jewish women
in music performance during the 20th century, both in Iraq (pre 1950s)
and subsequently in Israel.
She was born in Bombay
– her family was originally from Baghdad, having settled in India during
the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
